Gallagher Natural Resources division are looking for a downstream oil & gas risk engineer to join their expanding team of accomplished risk engineers. The role will involve both on-site and desktop-based risk assessment of downstream & midstream energy assets and infrastructure across the globe.

How you'll make an impact

A.J. Gallagher (AJG) are the third largest insurance brokerage and risk management firm in the world. One of the primary functions of Gallagher is to act as a reliable and dependable intermediary between businesses looking for insurance coverage and the insurance companies that provide it. Our engineers combine deep technical expertise with strong client-facing skills, working closely with both major and emerging energy companies to assess and articulate risk. Through this engagement, we help brokers and insurers make informed decisions whilst supporting clients in securing effective and competitive insurance coverage.

The risk engineer will be expected to travel globally to meet with clients and assess their midstream & downstream assets for factors such as process safety, mechanical integrity, active & passive fire protection, process control and emergency response. After the on-site risk assessment, the engineer will produce a market report detailing the findings of the on-site risk assessment. As well as on-site assessments, the engineer will be expected to engage daily with the brokers to help with bid presentations, insurance technical clarifications, maximum loss studies and client roadshow presentations to the insurance markets.

About You

Ideally the candidate will have some working knowledge/industrial experience of either downstream and/or midstream oil and gas assets such as refineries, upgraders, gas plants, fractionators, LNG facilities, pipelines or compressor stations. Insurance industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We are keen to hear from both experienced risk engineers and candidates with strong technical backgrounds across midstream & downstream sectors. As a growing team, there is flexibility to shape the role around the successful candidate's experience and strengths, with mentoring and support provided where required.

Compensation and benefits

At Gallagher, we believe supporting our colleagues goes far beyond the role itself. Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits programs designed to support your well-being, career development opportunities and ongoing learning, a collaborative, people-first culture with accessible leadership, and the opportunity to do meaningful work with global reach and local impact.

At Gallagher, we are dedicated to building an inclusive and authentic workplace. Although this role is listed as full-time, if you’re in a job-share partnership, work reduced hours, or have any other flexible arrangement, please still get in touch. We will also offer reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process if required, so please let us know.
