Benefits: Pension following successful completion of probation

The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded law firm is looking to recruit a capable, experienced Property Secretary / PA to the Managing Partner to join its property team.

The firm has a strong reputation for delivering pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice, working with a diverse client base ranging from owner-managed businesses and SMEs to larger corporate clients. Its property practice is predominantly commercial, with additional residential conveyancing work.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident legal secretary who enjoys taking ownership of their work, supporting senior fee earners and playing an integral role in the smooth running of a busy property practice.

The Role

You will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to the Managing Partner and wider property team, with a genuine degree of autonomy and responsibility for the day-to-day management of matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, typing and amending legal documents, including using Track Changes.
  • Managing electronic and physical files, from opening through to closure.
  • Liaising directly with clients and third parties, handling correspondence and drafting emails independently.
  • Conducting Land Registry searches and assisting with applications and requisitions.
  • Preparing and submitting SDLT returns.
  • Supporting property transactions, including commercial property and residential conveyancing matters.
  • Managing billing, monitoring monies received and paid, and chasing outstanding invoices.
  • Preparing cost schedules and schedules of property searches and associated disbursements.
  • Monitoring deadlines, maintaining accurate records and ensuring matters progress efficiently.

About You

We are looking for a genuinely capable property legal secretary who can work independently and confidently support a busy senior fee earner.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Property Legal Secretary, Legal PA or similar within a private practice law firm.
  • A strong working knowledge of commercial property, with residential conveyancing experience also advantageous.
  • Experience with Land Registry procedures, searches, applications, requisitions and SDLT returns.
  • Confidence managing legal files, preparing documentation and communicating directly with clients.
  • Experience with billing, financial administration and monitoring outstanding invoices.
  • Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive, professional approach and the confidence to take ownership of tasks.

What's on Offer?

  • 34,000- 37,000 salary, depending on experience.
  • Your own private office, providing a dedicated workspace.
  • Pension provision following successful completion of probation.
  • Direct support to the Managing Partner, offering responsibility and exposure to senior-level work.
  • A varied commercial property caseload, alongside some residential conveyancing.
  • The opportunity to join an established firm with a strong client-focused and commercially minded approach.

Interested?

If you are an experienced property legal secretary looking for a role offering autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to work closely with the Managing Partner, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
