Junior Accountant Independent Accountancy Practice
Location: Hertford, Hertfordshire

An established independent accountancy practice in Hertford is looking to recruit a Junior Accountant to join its friendly and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT-qualified, AAT studier or early-stage ACCA/ACA student looking to broaden their experience across bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and accounts preparation whilst working closely with experienced Partners.
The firm supports a diverse client portfolio ranging from owner-managed businesses through to larger groups across sectors including manufacturing, consultancy, IT and marketing.
The Role
Working alongside senior accountants and Partners, you will assist with:
- Bookkeeping and client record processing
- VAT returns and MTD submissions
- Bank reconciliations and journal postings
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation
- Processing records through Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
- Supporting payroll when required
- Liaising with clients and resolving queries
- Managing workload to meet client deadlines
The Ideal Candidate
We are keen to hear from candidates who have:
- Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Bookkeeping and VAT return experience
- Knowledge of Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- A positive and proactive attitude
