The Role
Working closely with the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager will help lead the commercial, operational and people performance of the Guildford venue.
You will keep the venue running smoothly, drive revenue and maintain high standards across games, food, drink, retail and customer service. You will also recruit, coach and motivate the team, creating an inclusive environment where employees feel supported and guests receive an exceptional experience.
This is a varied, hands-on management role for someone who enjoys leading from the front and wants to make a visible impact within a busy entertainment and hospitality venue.
Key Responsibilities
Support the General Manager with the venue's day-to-day operational, commercial and people performance.
Maximise revenue by reviewing bookings, pricing and utilisation, managing EPOS promotions and driving upselling, repeat visits and targeted offers.
Develop the venue's sales and marketing culture, maintain customer data in line with legislation and support campaigns for key audiences.
Manage staffing, rotas, budgets, financial reporting and departmental records in line with business demand and agreed targets.
Oversee food, beverage, catering and retail operations, including hygiene compliance, purchasing, cost control and service standards.
Maintain an excellent guest experience by monitoring performance, resolving feedback and ensuring the team consistently meets company standards.
Lead recruitment, induction, training, coaching and appraisals while communicating the business plan and embedding the company's values.
Maintain a safe, high-quality venue through daily course inspections, health and safety checks, routine repairs and coordination with suppliers and contractors.
Build positive relationships within the local community and comply with all company, HR and health and safety procedures.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role, you will need:
At least two years' experience as a Duty Manager or Deputy Manager.
Operational site management experience within a customer-focused environment.
Strong leadership, people-management, coaching and delegation skills.
Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
Strong organisation, planning, prioritisation and time-management abilities.
A practical approach to problem-solving, decision-making and managing change.
A results-driven attitude, good presentation skills and excellent attention to detail.
A good standard of education, including GCSEs or equivalent.
A full driving licence.
P&L management and sales and marketing experience would be advantageous. A Personal Licence and First Aid at Work qualification are also preferred.
