W&A is supporting a global business as it strengthens its finance operations team. Working within the management accounts function, this role will suit a part-qualified or experienced finance professional who enjoys varied responsibilities, values accuracy, and wants to play a visible role in delivering high-quality financial information across a regional portfolio. The role is based in Glasgow on a hybrid basis.
This is a broad and hands-on role with real exposure across regional accounting activity. You will support the monthly close, produce insightful financial reporting, reconcile key balance sheet accounts and help maintain a strong control environment. You will also act as a key point of contact in the absence of the Financial Controller, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build ownership, confidence and progression within a collaborative finance team.
- Support the monthly accounts close ensuring deadlines are met and outputs are accurate.
- Prepare and post journals including payroll, accruals, prepayments and cost adjustments.
- Produce payroll reconciliations and review lower-complexity journals for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare draft monthly variance analysis across the income statement and balance sheet, highlighting trends against plan and prior year.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, follow up outstanding items and maintain clear action plans for resolution.
- Support external audit deliverables, including reconciliations, documentation and compliance with agreed timetables.
- Provide guidance and day-to-day support to more junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and helping to build capability across the team.
Previous experience in financial and management reporting within a busy finance environment. Part-qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA, or qualified by experience. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Solid Excel skills, with advanced capability advantageous. Exposure to SAP ERP and/or Dynamics 365 would be beneficial but is not essential. The ability to prioritise effectively, work with limited supervision and escalate issues appropriately when needed. Prior coaching, mentoring or informal team support experience would be advantageous.
