Kirkcaldy, Fife Contract : 9–12 months Payment: PAYE Shifts: Days and nights available Hours: Strong weekly hours with overtime opportunities Travel & accommodation: Β£300 per week for eligible travelling workers Pay – Days: Β£1,700 local per week / Β£2,000 travelling per week (inc. of travel and digs) Pay – Nights: Β£2,000 local per week / Β£2,300 travelling per week (inc. of travel and digs) We are currently supporting a major oil & gas operator in hiring experienced Fabricators / Platers for a significant long-term fabrication programme in Kirkcaldy.

The work will involve the fabrication, assembly and modification of large heavy steel structures and associated fabricated components, with Fabricators / Platers working across structural steelwork, plant structures, equipment supports and heavy fabricated assemblies. We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced Fabricators / Platers from oil & gas, petrochemical, process plant, shutdown, offshore and heavy engineering environments.

The project is expected to run for approximately 9–12 months, with both day and night shift opportunities available and strong weekly hours anticipated. For eligible travelling workers, a Β£300 per week travel and accommodation allowance is available. The Work The work would particularly suit Fabricators / Platers coming from oil & gas, petrochemical, offshore, process plant, shutdown, heavy fabrication, marine or shipbuilding backgrounds.

The role will involve: Fabrication and assembly of heavy structural steel Working with heavy plate, structural sections, frames and supports Reading and working from engineering drawings and fabrication specifications Marking out, measuring and preparing steel components Cutting, forming and shaping plate and structural steel Fitting and aligning components ready for welding Fabrication of brackets, equipment supports and associated structural components Modification and renewal of existing structural steelwork Checking dimensions, alignment and fit-up prior to welding Tack welding and preparation work where required Grinding and edge preparation work Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity Requirements Strong Fabricator / Plater experience Previous experience working with heavy structural steel Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and fabrication specifications Strong marking out, measuring, fitting and alignment skills Experience with heavy plate and structural sections Previous heavy fabrication experience Oil & gas, petrochemical, offshore, heavy engineering, marine or shipbuilding experience preferred Good safety awareness and a reliable approach to work Able to complete a practical trade test prior to starting If you are an experienced Fabricator / Plater looking for a substantial long-term project in Fife, we would like to hear from you.
