THE CLIENT
An established and growing name in the construction merchant sector, supplying building materials, tools and site essentials to contractors, housebuilders and trade customers across the East of Scotland. The business has a strong branch network and a genuine track record of promoting from within, and this vacancy has come about through growth rather than a departure, opening up a real step-up opportunity for the right internal sales professional.
THE ROLE
This is a player/manager position based at a busy Edinburgh branch. You'll stay genuinely hands-on, managing your own portfolio of trade and contractor accounts (a 50/50 split of new business and existing account management), while also taking on leadership of a small internal sales team and deputising for the branch manager in their absence. It's a real step up in responsibility, without losing the parts of the job you're good at and enjoy.
ABOUT YOU
You'll already have solid experience in internal sales within the construction merchant or wider building trade sector, comfortable dealing with contractors, housebuilders, site managers and buyers. You'll have built up strong product and market knowledge over your career, along with the confidence to support and mentor colleagues, and you'll be looking for a role that gives you genuine extra responsibility without taking you away from customer-facing sales. You'll need to be commutable to a branch based in Edinburgh (EH12 area).
THE REWARDS
£40,000 basic salary, plus a bonus scheme with realistic earning potential of up to £50,000 OTE once established in the role (typically building from year two). Full-time, permanent position with a genuine path to further branch management responsibility within a wider group structure. xrnqpay
