Academics are currently recruiting for an SEN Learning Support Assistant to work across mainstream primary and secondary schools in Doncaster. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant who enjoys providing targeted support and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Doncaster
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply
Pay: £92.56 - £95 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP / September
About the Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work within mainstream schools across Doncaster, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs. You may provide 1:1 or small-group support, assist pupils within the classroom and help them access the curriculum. The SEN Learning Support Assistant role would suit someone who is patient, adaptable and confident supporting pupils with different learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other SEN.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, small-group and classroom support to pupils with SEN
- Help pupils access learning and participate positively in school life
- Support pupils with additional learning, communication and behavioural needs
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement
- Adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs
- Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
- Experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or similar
- A patient, supportive and adaptable approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential where suitable experience is held
