A well-established technology business is seeking a Customer Support Technician to join its experienced technical support team at its Weymouth headquarters. This is a varied role combining technical customer support, troubleshooting, hands-on product testing and repair, making it ideal for someone with a technical or engineering background who enjoys solving problems and working directly with customers.

The Role

As Customer Support Technician, you will provide technical support to customers via telephone, email and online platforms, helping to diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly. Alongside customer support, you will have the opportunity to get involved with product testing and repair, technical documentation, customer training and continuous improvement activities. The role will also involve occasional customer site visits and travel, including the potential for overseas travel when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to customers via telephone, email and online platforms
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues and provide practical solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of customer cases and activity
  • Coordinate warranty replacements, loan equipment and replacement parts
  • Identify recurring technical issues and failure trends
  • Test software, drivers and products across relevant operating systems
  • Carry out product inspection, repair and testing
  • Create technical documentation, training materials and technical bulletins
  • Deliver customer and partner training when required
  • Carry out occasional customer site visits and attend relevant trade shows
  • Provide feedback to product development teams based on customer experience

What We're Looking For

  • Technically competent with a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Experience in a technical support, engineering, technician or similar role
  • Good IT literacy, including Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Familiarity with basic diagnostics, driver installation and network setup
  • Friendly, personable and confident when dealing with customers
  • Tenacious approach to resolving technical issues
  • Well organised with good attention to detail
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • Full UK driving licence
