Are you a Production Engineer or CNC Team Leader ready to step up into a leadership role? Are you a proactive engineer looking for a meaningful next move, one where your mindset, values and potential matter as much as your experience? We are looking for a Production Leader - Designate at Penta Precision, a growing precision machining business in Portsmouth. This role is a development opportunity designed to take the right person on a clear pathway into senior production leadership over time.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the Head of Manufacturing and Quality with day-to-day coordination of live works orders through the shopfloor
- Assisting with production planning and scheduling
- Communicating with departments across the business to ensure smooth workflow

Over time, you’ll progress to:
- Taking ownership of the full production schedule
- Leading the daily operations of the production department
- Line managing team leaders and supporting them to deliver on the plan
- Running daily and weekly production meetings
- Driving performance and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to have held a production leadership role before, but you do need the right attitude, energy, and foundation to grow into one. We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a CNC machining and manufacturing background (essential)
- Is organised, proactive, and eager to learn
- Is curious, asks smart questions, and seeks to understand the bigger picture
- Shows empathy, humility, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Is comfortable using computers and willing to learn production systems
- Has or is ready to develop an ownership mentality
- Wants to be the best at what they do and brings a mindset of continuous improvement
- Aligns with Penta’s core values and long-term vision
This is a rare opportunity to be trained and mentored into a leadership role with real impact and purpose. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit on the sidelines. We’re looking for someone ready to roll up their sleeves, learn fast, and take others with them, someone with the energy, curiosity and people-skills to grow into a leader who makes a real difference.
Why Join Penta
We’re a progressive, people-focused subcontract precision machining business with big plans. You’ll join at an exciting stage as we grow our team, expand our capabilities, and continue our journey to become ‘the engineering company where everyone wants to work and who everyone wants to buy from.’
