The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing staff to provide efficient Payroll services for employees based in different countries across Europe (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Poland). Oversees the development, implementation, and administration of cost-effective Payroll processes across these corporate entities. Actively participates in the Global Shared Services Center as a leader supporting division and company initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
- Manages payroll team of 8 payroll experts.
- Optimizes internal and external company processes as they relate to Payroll.
- Coaches the Payroll Team in resolving complex Payroll processing and employee Payroll issues.
- Provides Payroll reporting and payments that are compliant and aligned with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles and regulations.
- Serves as supplier relationship manager for vendors, overseeing all interactions, including performance, processes, contractual agreements, and payments.
- Acts as the Payroll workstream lead in cross-functional projects.
- Maintains strong partnerships with key functions, particularly HR Services, including Benefits and Compensation, Labor Relations, Global Mobility, Legal, Finance, and other functional support areas.
Skills / Experiences
- Excellent communication skills and employee-centric service focus.
- Knowledge of relevant laws governing Payroll (e.g., tax, withholding and wage garnishment) in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Poland.
- Multi-country payroll manager experience across Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Sweden, Denmark. Experience with Poland is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving abilities; required to analyse issues and create action plans.
- Track record of building solid relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Knowledge of relevant software (MS Office) with good working knowledge in Excel and Word.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize workload and manage deadlines with attention to detail.
- Experience in working in a multilateral, multinational team.
Requirements:
- 5 years of proven Payroll Management experience in an international environment.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience leading a team in a matrix organization.
Language Skills: Fluent in English and any additional European Language will be a plus.
