We are seeking a Sous Chef to join our team. If you have a sound work ethic, are able to think creatively yet economically and above all have a passion for delivering exceptionally good quality 'next level pub grub' - Then this will be for you.

In this role you will be required to oversee kitchen operations, supervise staff, and ensure the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and quality are maintained. You will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef and on a regular basis be acting head chef covering days off and holidays and therefore contributing to the overall success of our pub restaurant.

Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of a wide variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to encourage a collaborative environment.
  • Oversee food production processes, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to recipes and standards.
  • Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the owners and the Head Chef in menu planning, costings, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained, cleaned and functioning correctly and report back any faults or cause for concern.
  • Monitor portion control and minimise waste to optimise operational efficiency.
  • Assist in training new team members and developing existing staff's culinary skills.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.

You will be required to carry out a 'cooking skills' test as part of the interview process, so have in mind a dish of your own choosing to make and we will be asking you to make one of our choosing too.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: From £14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40-45 per week
