A well-established and highly reputable accountancy firm based in Bishop Auckland is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its growing team. The Role As Tax Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality tax compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will work closely with individuals, owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and high-net-worth clients, providing expert guidance across both corporate and personal tax matters. This role offers the chance to take ownership of client relationships, contribute to strategic tax planning, and support the ongoing growth and success of the firm.
Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance
Prepare and review self-assessment and corporation tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and trusts.
Ensure full compliance with UK tax legislation and HMRC requirements.
Manage deadlines and ensure all filings are completed accurately and on time.
Tax Planning and Advisory
Provide tailored tax planning advice to corporate and personal clients.
Advise on capital gains tax, inheritance tax, business restructuring, R&D tax reliefs, and group tax planning.
Explain complex tax issues clearly and effectively to clients.
Client Management
Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, delivering a high standard of service.
Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships across a range of industries.
Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to deliver a comprehensive service.
Team Leadership and Development
Supervise and mentor junior team members, reviewing work and supporting their professional development.
Contribute to training initiatives and the continuous improvement of internal processes.
About You Qualified tax professional (CTA, ATT, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
Strong technical knowledge and proven experience in both corporate and personal tax.
Previous experience within an accountancy practice is essential.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Able to manage a varied client portfolio and meet deadlines effectively.
