Are you looking to develop your career within audit while gaining exposure to a varied and interesting client base? Due to continued growth and expansion, one of Bath's largest and most respected independent accountancy practices is looking to recruit an Audit & Accounts Assistant to join its thriving team.
This is a newly created position, offering an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who is looking to build on their existing practice experience and progress their career within a supportive, forward-thinking firm.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality audit, accountancy, tax and advisory services to a broad range of owner-managed businesses, charities and growing organisations across the South West.
The Opportunity
This role has a strong audit focus, making it ideal for someone who enjoys client interaction, analytical work and gaining hands-on experience across a variety of audit assignments.
Working alongside experienced managers and partners, you will play an important role in the delivery of audit engagements while continuing to develop your technical skills and professional knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- - Assisting with and leading sections of audit assignments for a varied client portfolio
- - Planning audit fieldwork and preparing audit documentation
- - Conducting audit testing and analytical review procedures
- - Preparing audit files and supporting working papers
- - Liaising directly with clients and maintaining strong professional relationships
- - Attending client sites as part of audit assignments
- - Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts
- - Preparing financial statements and supporting schedules
- - Working closely with managers and senior team members on larger assignments
- - Ensuring work is completed accurately and within required deadlines
- - Keeping up to date with accounting and auditing standards
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- - Previous experience working within an accountancy practice (1-2 years)
- - Exposure to audit assignments
- - AAT, ACA/ACCA part qualification or wants to study/qualify
- - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- - A proactive and positive approach to work
- - A genuine desire to build a long-term career within audit and accountancy
