Engineer first. Salesperson second.

This isn't a traditional Key Account Manager role.

We're looking for someone with a genuine engineering background who has moved into technical sales and wants more than simply managing a portfolio of accounts.

You'll work with industrial and manufacturing customers to understand their operations, identify challenges and uncover opportunities for innovative material-movement, engineered technology and automation solutions.

You'll have the freedom to create opportunities, develop ideas and work alongside Engineering and Applications specialists to turn customer challenges into commercially successful solutions.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Developing key customer relationships across the South
  • Getting on-site and understanding how customers' operations really work
  • Identifying problems, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
  • Spotting opportunities for automation, technology and engineered solutions
  • Developing new opportunities within existing and prospective customers
  • Working with Engineering and Applications teams to scope the right solution
  • Managing opportunities from initial conversation through to proposal, negotiation and close
  • Expanding the range and value of solutions delivered into customers
  • Becoming a trusted adviser customers involve before they know exactly what they need

What We're Looking For

The exact product you've sold isn't the most important thing.

Your engineering foundation is.

Ideally, you'll have an engineering degree, apprenticeship or strong hands-on engineering background, followed by experience in technical or consultative sales.

Your background could include

  • Material handling or intralogistics
  • Automation or robotics
  • Conveyors or production systems
  • Capital equipment
  • Industrial machinery
  • Controls
  • Process equipment
  • Engineered products or technical solutions

You could currently be a Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Manager, Area Sales Manager, Business Development Manager or Technical Account Manager.

You'll need to be technically curious, commercially confident and comfortable engaging with Engineering, Operations and Production teams.

Most importantly, you'll know how to uncover opportunities, build relationships and progress technically led projects through to order.

Why Consider It?

  • This could be a great move if you're succeeding in technical sales but want:
  • More autonomy
  • More complex engineering challenges
  • Exposure to automation and emerging technology
  • Greater ownership of major customer relationships
  • The opportunity to develop larger-value solutions
  • Uncapped earning potential

We're particularly interested in ambitious, mid-career technical sales professionals who still have plenty of progression ahead of them.

Package

Basic salary: Up to £70,000
OTE: £100,000+
Commission: Uncapped
Territory: South UK
Working pattern: Hybrid / field-based

Although you'll manage customers across the South, regular interaction with the Ashbourne, Derbyshire operation is important. xrnqpay

Candidates based across the East or West Midlands who can comfortably access Ashbourne while travelling throughout the South could be particularly well suited.

If you're an engineer who's built a successful career in sales and you're ready for greater autonomy, bigger customer conversations and more exposure to innovative technology and automation, we'd like to hear from you
