Our client, a leading global investment firm, is looking to add a Portfolio Manager to its high-performing credit team in London. The hire follows continued growth across the firm’s credit business and will join a global investment platform with a broad mandate spanning both developed and emerging markets.
The successful candidate will invest across the credit spectrum, identifying long and short opportunities across investment grade, crossover, high yield, stressed and distressed credit. The broader platform invests across a range of complementary strategies, including developed and emerging market credit, leveraged credit, special situations and macro credit, providing significant flexibility to pursue opportunities across different market environments.
The role will involve idea generation, portfolio construction and active risk management, with the ability to express views through cash bonds, CDS and other credit instruments. The individual will be expected to combine fundamental credit analysis with an understanding of market technicals, relative value and catalysts, while dynamically managing hedges and overall portfolio exposures.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong track record investing across IG, crossover, HY, stressed and liquid distressed credit, ideally within a long/short or absolute-return strategy
- Broad experience across developed and/or emerging markets, with the ability to identify opportunities across different regions, sectors and parts of the capital structure
- The ability to originate, analyse and execute both long and short investments across instruments including cash bonds and CDS
- Demonstrable experience in portfolio construction, position sizing, hedging and risk management, including managing exposures through periods of market volatility
- A strong understanding of fundamental credit, relative value and event-driven opportunities across performing and stressed situations
- An established network across the buy-side and sell-side credit markets
