Our client, a highly regarded international firm, is seeking a (Senior) Associate-level Credit Research/Desk Analyst to join its leveraged credit trading team in London. This is an outstanding opportunity to work at the heart of the public credit markets, partnering closely with Sales & Trading while reporting directly to the Head of Credit Research.

The Role & Responsibilities

  • This is a desk-based position focused on fundamental credit analysis across a broad spectrum of leveraged finance instruments, including high yield bonds, leveraged loans, distressed debt, special situations credit, and select illiquid opportunities.
  • While primarily public credit–focused, the role offers exposure to less liquid and off-the-run situations where appropriate.
  • The successful candidate will:
  • Conduct detailed fundamental analysis of leveraged issuers across the capital structure
  • Build and maintain robust financial models to assess creditworthiness, cash flow sustainability, covenant dynamics, and recovery scenarios
  • Generate investment ideas across leveraged credit markets
  • Work closely with a high-performing Sales & Trading team, providing timely market colour and supporting trade execution

The position offers real-time interaction with markets and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on investment and trading decisions.

Candidate Profile

  • 2–5 years’ experience in leveraged finance, credit research, restructuring, or related roles
  • Strong understanding of high yield bonds and leveraged loans; exposure to distressed or special situations credit is advantageous
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex capital structures and legal documentation
  • Commercial mindset with the confidence to contribute investment views
  • Strong academic background; CFA progress is viewed positively
