A long-established UK manufacturer specialising in engineered liquid storage and treatment solutions for the water, wastewater and environmental sectors, is looking to add a structural design engineer to their team. Operating from multiple advanced production facilities, the company delivers a full turnkey service that spans civils groundwork, product design, precision manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and technical aftercare.
The Role: The Structural Design Engineer is a key member of the engineering team, providing a service to the company, in the following areas:
- Producing designs for new and modified products.
- Validating these designs through trials, testing and field evaluations and assisting with the production trials of new products.
- Resolving technical problems that occur in production, product development and continuous improvement.
- Providing technical support for the sales and site services departments.
What we are looking for:
Experience:
- 2-3 years’ general engineering experience including 1-2 years’ structural analysis experience; 6 months shall have been spent on finite element analysis.
- Experience of steel and Euro Code materials (Desired).
- Experience of nonlinear analysis (Desired).
- AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop and Inventor are the preferred modelling software.
- MathCAD and Excel are the preferred calculation software.
- Experience in other software is a benefit.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills is essential.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Excellent inter-personal skills.
- First class planning & organisational skills.
- Good presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Must be an innovative thinker and commercially aware.
- Must be willing to develop interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be computer literate particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word and Engineering software packages for which further training will be provided.
Qualifications: Honours Degree in structural engineering or mechanical engineering.
