Mechanical Estimator

📍 Livingston | Hybrid | Permanent| Salary up to £70k + Car Allowance & Benefits

A leading provider of M&E services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a growing estimating team. This role supports the wider M&E estimating function in producing comprehensive, competitive tenders and contributing to the successful delivery of major projects.

The position offers a blend of office and home working, strong development opportunities, and a chance to make a real impact within a forward‑thinking organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse tender enquiries, break down subcontractor and supplier packages, and select suitable partners
  • Prepare pricing documents and format them into standard layouts using estimating software or full analytical breakdowns
  • Submit tender bids and breakdowns, responding to client queries as required
  • Liaise with internal teams including operations and surveying throughout tender and project progress
  • Undertake site surveys to identify risks and highlight them appropriately
  • Maintain accurate estimate files in line with company processes and procedures
  • Apply strong communication and presentation skills when liaising with clients and consultants
  • Develop and maintain a strong customer and supplier network
  • Formulate and present value‑engineered options
  • Support a one‑team culture through open communication and adherence to business values

  • Strong team player with a positive, flexible attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to express opinions confidently in internal and external meetings
  • Ability to work effectively with clients to meet expectations while delivering for the business

Application Criteria

  • Valid driving license
  • Strong IT literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to adapt to new software systems
  • Experience using Trimble Estimation Software or equivalent
  • CSCS card preferred
