Position
Data Services Engineer at Conferma is responsible for:
Enhancing and maintaining the Conferma Data Platforms
As a data specialist you will support in the maintenance and deployment of Conferma application & services at a data layer.This includes a combination of Microsoft SQL databases, batch file data & Microsoft Fabric data lakes. You will possess excellent troubleshooting skills and demonstrate the ability to make key technical decisions to ensure confidentiality, integrity & security of all platform data sets.
Systems Analyst responsibilities:
- Providing internal and external technical support for Conferma data platforms, working closely with L1-3 support teams.
- Working inside the Conferma SQL release pipeline to ensure consistency & reliability of product enhancements through non-production & production environments, including undertaking code reviews and approvals prior to release.
- Collaborating alongside the DBA function to assess proposed changes to platform data transformations & structures considering efficiency of SQL execution and overall database performance
- Undertake project workstreams on data platform enhancements
- Monitoring resource metrics, proactively identifying potential problems and remediating with minimal customer impact
- Working with the product development and platform engineering teams to enable customer solutions underpinned by cloud-first technologies
- Maintain documentation of the data Conferma data landscape
Requirements
You have:
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft SQL including working with SSIS & SSRS, Python & cloud native data tools
- Experience working with Microsoft SQL and file data storage in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure
- Exposure to Azure DevOps and SQL release pipelines, including an understanding of software development lifecycle
- An understanding of encryption and handling of cryptography artefacts
- Overall 3+ years’ experience working in an application support/data engineering role
- Foundational experience writing automation in PowerShell
- Experience with Azure Synapse or Microsoft Fabric would be advantageous
You have:
- Great at problem solving with a key attention to detail
- Capable of multi-tasking and prioritising within a fast-paced environment
- Able to pick up new skills and concepts quickly
