About Us

We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives regardless of how or when they lost their sight. Founded in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson to support veterans blinded in the First World War, we have since supported those affected by vision loss in conflicts from the Second World War to the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan.

We are now looking for two Healthcare Assistants to join our bank of casual workers on a flexible basis.

The Benefits

– Hourly rate of £12.73 (plus unsocial hours allowance)
– Generous annual leave (pro rata) with the option to buy additional days

– Access to legal services and mental health support

The Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll provide outstanding support, assistance and care to the beneficiaries of our services.

Specifically, working on a casual basis, you will aid visually impaired individuals using our residential and nursing services.

You’ll support them in all aspects of life from providing personal and intimate care to assisting at mealtimes and in daily activities.

Additionally, you will:
