About the Role
Scottish Forestry is seeking individuals with a practical mindset and a professional approach to join the team as Assistant Woodland Officers.
This role involves working with Woodland Officers in the delivery of grants and regulatory functions, providing technical guidance to woodland managers and landowners, and contributing to the implementation of sustainable forest management practices.
The position offers a combination of office, home‑based, and outdoor work.
Responsibilities
- Assess and process grant and regulatory applications.
- Provide technical guidance to woodland managers and landowners.
- Develop forest management and new woodland creation plans with stakeholders, agents, and landowners.
- Collaborate to manage priorities and shape outcomes around tree planting or areas to be felled.
- Conduct site visits using a full driving licence.
- Work both in the field and in the office.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a working knowledge of land or forest management, an understanding of the rural sector, and knowledge of sustainable forest management.
A structured training programme will support acquisition of necessary competencies.
