Overview
We are looking to appoint an experienced tutor who will work within venues and homes local to Sevenoaks and/or Tonbridge, delivering tuition sessions outside of school hours. This could be on a one-to-one basis or in groups, up to 1:6.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Deliver bespoke tuition based on your subject, filling any perceived gaps in learning as identified by the school.
- Work with students or small groups allocated by the Principal Director.
- Establish good relationships with students.
- Provide engaging, targeted tuition that supports student achievement and progress.
- Provide informal ad hoc feedback to parents or pupils if required.
- Liaise with the Principal Director regarding attendance and engagement of pupils.
- Role focuses solely on tutoring; no expectation to assign homework.
Person Specification
Qualifications:- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Pupil-centred, engaging and high energy.
- Knowledgeable in the latest exam specifications and requirements.
- Confident in planning and delivering tuition sessions.
- Resilience and strategies to engage reluctant learners.
- Experience teaching whole classes, small intervention groups or 1:1 tuition.
- Graduate of a relevant subject (e.g., English, Maths, Science, Humanities, MFL or Primary Education).
- Ability to differentiate to a broad range of pupil needs, abilities, and personalities.
- Experience working with low-ability students or those with SEN.
- Confidence to manage challenging behaviour and re-engage hard-to-reach learners.
- Ability to plan and deliver learning materials independently.
- Proven track record of raising student attainment.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Ability to travel to venues or clients.
Compensation and Employment
Pay rate: £35 per hour. This role is advertised on a self-employed basis; tutors provide tuition services to Conexus Tuition Sevenoaks and Tonbridge through a Consultant Agreement.
