Scope of the role:
The Geotechnical Data & Project Engineer will play a key role in supporting the successful technical delivery of specialist geotechnical testing services. The position combines advanced in‑situ test data and nearshore GI data processing, project technical support, site quality oversight, and high-quality reporting. The role operates within established data and project teams and includes supervised involvement in advanced and higher‑risk geotechnical fieldwork as part of technical development.
Main Duties:
Data Processing & Technical Analysis
- Process, analyse, and interpret data in accordance with internal standards, quality procedures, and client specifications.
- Validate data quality and identify anomalies or risks that may affect design or project outcomes.
- Support continuous improvement of data workflows and technical methodologies within the team.
Project Setup, Client & Technical Support
- Support the projects team in setting up projects for successful technical delivery, ensuring alignment with internal standards, quality systems, and specifications/contractual requirements.
- Engage closely with clients and the projects team to ensure they are well advised on the optimum technical approach and available options for successful fieldwork execution and client satisfaction.
- Assist with defining testing scopes, methodologies, data requirements, and deliverables during project initiation.
- Provide technical advice and support throughout the project lifecycle as required.
Site Work Review & Oversight
- Review ongoing site work for quality, compliance, and production efficiency.
- Identify and report any technical, quality, or safety concerns arising during site activities.
- Support corrective actions where required in collaboration with project and field teams.
Reporting & Deliverables
- Produce clear, accurate reports suitable for client issue.
- Ensure reports meet internal quality standards and are delivered to agreed programmes.
- Support senior team members with review and verification of reports when required.
Fieldwork Support & Supervision
- Assist with and supervise advanced fieldwork activities, including projects with higher geotechnical risk and testing requiring close management.
- Regularly participate in fieldwork and calibration activities as part of initial learning and professional development.
- Ensure field activities are undertaken with technical diligence and in accordance with stated methodologies and risk assessments.
