As a Part‑Time Professor, you will develop and deliver curriculum using various engaging and innovative methods, playing a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence through sound teaching practice. The School of Trades & Apprenticeship is currently seeking qualified professionals to teach courses part-time starting in early September 2026 in the Mechanical Techniques Plumbing, Plumbing Technician or Plumbing Apprenticeship programs. We are currently seeking individuals who can teach during the day and have expertise in subject areas such as: Math for Plumbing, Plumbing Theory & Practice, Prints, and Gas Tech 3. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., both in-person and online. Part‑time Professors typically teach one to two courses. When time allows, Professors are afforded an opportunity to share their availability on a semester basis to determine course scheduling. Courses may be in person only, online only, or hybrid (mix of online and in person content), and are approximately two to six hours per week in the classroom. Applications will be provided to the hiring team on a weekly schedule. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
  • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including in shop, online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
  • Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty

Qualifications

  • Plumber 306A Certificate of Qualification is required
  • Additional Plumber Certificate of Apprenticeship is preferred
  • Minimum of five years of related industry experience
  • Gas licenses – G3, G2, or G1 are considered an asset
  • Previous adult or post‑secondary teaching experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with curriculum development is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L, Zoom) is an asset
  • Strong leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
