A leading global law firm is expanding a dedicated, forward-thinking team that delivers the full spectrum of commercial contracts work for a single, sophisticated client. This is a genuine alternative to the traditional practice model – the intellectual challenge and prestige of a top-tier firm, combined with the depth of relationship, ownership and predictable rhythm you would normally only find in-house.
If you are a commercial lawyer who wants to do complex, high-quality work without the churn of the billable hour and to become a trusted, embedded part of one client's world this is a rare opportunity to do both at once.
Why this role stands out- Best of both worlds. You act as a core part of one client's legal function, developing a deep understanding of their business and a close working relationship with their in-house team while sitting within, and fully supported by, a leading international firm.
- Real ownership. New, technology-enabled ways of working mean you take full ownership of contracts end to end, with greater responsibility and autonomy than a typical private practice team would offer at this level.
- Certainty and flexibility. The single-client focus and the way the team is structured give you far greater certainty and flexibility over your working hours a sustainable pace, without sacrificing the quality of the work.
- Top-tier work and training. You work alongside the firm's Band 1 ranked Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) team and benefit from all of their training and know-how, keeping you at the leading edge of the market.
- Varied and genuinely engaging. The work spans general commercial contracts, technology and outsourcing agreements, third-party supplier arrangements and other contracts across the client's operations consistently varied, complex and commercially meaningful.
- Built for flexibility. Fully remote within the UK, and open to both full-time and part-time applications.
Coming from private practice? This is your chance to step off the billable-hour treadmill without stepping down in quality. You keep the calibre of work, the brand and the first-class training and gain more predictable hours, more autonomy and the satisfaction of owning matters from start to finish. Instead of servicing many clients at arm's length, you get to know one business deeply and see the commercial impact of your advice.
Coming from in-house? You already know the value of being close to the business where you keep that proximity and partnership with a single client, but with the resources, peer network, cutting-edge legal tech and structured development of a leading global firm behind you. It is the embedded, business-focused experience you enjoy in-house, with the support, variety and career infrastructure of top-tier private practice.
What you'll be doing- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating the full range of the client's commercial contracts.
- Advising on contractual and related queries, taking full ownership of your matters.
- Working collaboratively within the dedicated team and directly alongside the client's in-house legal function.
- Using new, technology-enabled ways of working to deliver high-quality, efficient service.
- Building and maintaining strong, enduring client relationships.
- 5+ PQE with strong general commercial contracts experience.
- Experience in technology / outsourcing and intellectual property work, and a good awareness of technology generally.
- An in-house or private practice background, ideally both.
- Advanced drafting skills and strong legal research ability.
- Experience supporting sophisticated clients (desirable).
- A comprehensive academic record, including a degree or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, and a methodical, accurate and client-focused approach.
