Conekt Legal is partnering with a prestigious global law firm to recruit an experienced senior litigation solicitor to head up their Contentious Support function in Belfast. This is a pivotal senior leadership role, central to how the firm delivers large-scale disputes, investigations and regulatory matters for clients across multiple international jurisdictions.

You will manage a substantial team of lawyers and paralegals, taking ownership of resourcing, quality, and delivery on some of the firm's most complex contentious engagements. Just as importantly, you will sit at the intersection of legal expertise and technology, working hands-on with the latest legal tech and e-discovery platforms to advise clients on the right tools to streamline their matters and control cost and risk.

Why this role, and why work there

  • Lead the Contentious Support function of one of the world's leading global law firms from its Belfast office, a recognised centre of excellence that delivers large-scale disputes, investigations and regulatory work for clients across the globe.
  • Genuine leadership scope, owning resourcing, quality and delivery on some of the firm's most complex contentious engagements.
  • Hands-on with the latest legal technology, e-discovery and AI-assisted review, keeping you and the firm at the forefront of practice.
  • Join an award-winning innovation hub that has reshaped how a global firm delivers legal services, rather than outsourcing the work.
  • Strong people-first culture, with real investment in career development and international exposure from a Belfast base.

What you will do

  • Lead and develop a large team of lawyers and paralegals, with responsibility for performance, development, supervision, and workload.
  • Take a leading role on major contentious disputes and internal and regulatory investigations.
  • Design and oversee the e-discovery lifecycle across matters, from data identification and preservation through review, analysis, and production.
  • Advise partners and clients on the most effective legal technology and e-discovery solutions to improve efficiency and value.
  • Drive consistent processes, quality standards, and best practice across the contentious support team.
  • Partner with the wider firm, including the corporate support function, to align ways of working and share capability.
  • Stay ahead of developments in litigation technology, AI-assisted review, and disclosure to keep the firm and its clients at the forefront of practice.

What we're looking for

  • Qualified solicitor in Northern Ireland, England & Wales and/or ROI.
  • 8+ years PQE.
  • Extensive experience of commercial litigation.
  • Strong working knowledge of e-discovery and legal technology, with practical experience advising on and deploying the relevant tools.
  • Strong people management skills, with a track record of leading and developing sizeable teams.
  • Excellent judgement, organisation, and the ability to manage competing priorities across high-value, high-pressure matters.
  • A collaborative, client-focused approach and the credibility to advise senior stakeholders.
