Looking for high-quality employment litigation work without the traditional law firm pressures? We're hiring an Employment Lawyer to join a specialist team acting as a trusted extension of the legal function for a small number of major UK employers. This role offers something increasingly rare - the opportunity to run complex Employment Tribunal matters, build meaningful relationships with clients and focus on delivering excellent legal advice, without the demands of business development targets, timesheet culture or excessive internal bureaucracy.
What makes this role different?
- Fully remote working
- High-quality Employment Tribunal litigation
- No business development responsibilities
- No billable hour targets
- Direct client access and relationship ownership
- Genuine autonomy and responsibility
- Long-term client partnerships rather than transactional work
- Supportive and collaborative specialist employment team
- Modern, technology-enabled approach to legal services
- Predictable workload and improved work-life balance
The Opportunity
You'll take ownership of a varied caseload of Employment Tribunal matters from inception through to resolution, advising on a broad range of contentious employment issues including:
- Unfair dismissal
- Discrimination claims
- Whistleblowing
- Harassment
- Victimisation
- Complex employee relations disputes
Rather than acting for dozens of clients, you'll work closely with a small portfolio of established organisations, developing a genuine understanding of their businesses and becoming a trusted adviser to their internal teams. This creates a unique blend of private practice quality and in-house partnership, giving you both interesting legal work and deeper client relationships.
Who We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with employment lawyers who enjoy contentious work and want to continue developing their litigation expertise in a more sustainable environment. You will ideally have:
- 5+ years' PQE in employment law (although strong candidates outside this range will be considered)
- Significant Employment Tribunal experience
- Strong drafting, advocacy preparation and case management skills
- Experience advising employers on contentious employment matters
- Commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to problem solving
- The ability to manage competing priorities and build trusted client relationships
- Experience managing high-volume litigation or large-scale Employment Tribunal caseloads would be advantageous but is not essential.
Why Join?
Many employment lawyers reach a stage where they still enjoy the legal work but are looking for greater flexibility, stronger client relationships and a more sustainable way to practice. This role offers the opportunity to continue handling interesting and complex employment disputes while working in an environment designed around quality, collaboration and long-term client partnerships.
If you're an employment lawyer who enjoys tribunal work and is looking for a modern alternative to traditional private practice, we'd love to hear from you.
