This role is suited to an individual who is considering or has started working towards an actuarial career, with a keen interest in data, analytics, financial modelling and problem‑solving. Sponsorship through an actuarial qualification is available. Reporting to the Head of Reserving, the Actuarial Analyst supports the delivery of Conduit Re’s reserving activities, contributing to the analysis, monitoring and reporting of the Company’s reserves. Working closely with the Reserving team and broader actuarial function, the role provides exposure to core actuarial processes, including data analysis, model support and reporting within a dynamic reinsurance environment. This position offers the opportunity to develop technical actuarial skills, gain exposure to reinsurance reserving practices, and build a strong foundation within a collaborative actuarial team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work across the Actuarial team, as time permits, to prepare, analyse and evaluate data, providing insights to the team and wider business.
  • Analyse external benchmarking data to supplement analysis across the Actuarial function.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Undertake research to support reserving, pricing or capital modelling activities as required.
  • Support the Reserving team with reserving analysis, production of reports and Committee papers.
  • Assist with maintaining reserving models and updating key assumptions and parameters.
  • Contribute to understanding experience drivers and reserve movements.
  • Support the Pricing and Capital Modelling teams through data entry, analysis and model maintenance as required.
  • Collaborate with wider business teams to support actuarial insights and outputs.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s, or postgraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other relevant numerate subject.
  • Progress towards an actuarial qualification is preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of statistical and mathematical techniques applicable to the (re)insurance industry.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to work with data, identify trends and support problem‑solving activities.
  • Experience working with data databases and data management tools, including SQL or similar technologies, is advantageous.
  • Exposure using analytical and programming tools such as R, R Shiny and/or Python is beneficial.
  • Exposure to actuarial tools or data visualisation tools (e.g. PowerBI) is beneficial.
  • Interest in developing technical skills in modelling, data analysis and actuarial methodologies.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work demands and deliver within deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player, comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Proactive and motivated, with a willingness to learn and develop.
