CONDUCTR is seeking a Technical Director to sit at the intersection of creative ambition and technical delivery. You’ll provide senior oversight across AV, IT, networking, and show control systems, while helping shape the direction, culture, and future growth of our Show Systems & Engineering team.

About us: CONDUCTR is a dynamic collective of designers, technologists, media experts, producers & engineers. The vision is simple – fuse the creativity of a design studio with the innovation of a tech lab to create a one‑stop shop for extraordinary guest‑centric, 360 attraction experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Oversight: Oversee technical delivery within the Show Systems & Engineering Division, guiding AV engineers, spatial designers, and freelance specialists to achieve both technical robustness and creative excellence. Work in close partnership with the other Technical Director to align technical strategy, standards, and decision‑making across the business. Define, embed, and uphold technical direction, standards, workflows, and best practices across a growing team. Provide system‑level oversight across AV, IT, networking, media distribution, and show control architectures. Act as the senior escalation point for complex, high‑risk, or cross‑discipline technical challenges. Ensure technical decisions consistently align with creative intent, operational requirements, safety, and commercial objectives.
  • Specialist Design & Technical Input: Provide hands‑on specialist technical input for complex systems, novel solutions, or early projects where approaches and standards are still being established. Support early‑stage design development, feasibility studies, and bids with high‑level technical solutions and cost guidance. Review, challenge, and validate key technical concepts, system architectures, and major design decisions produced by the team. Support critical phases of installation, integration, testing, and commissioning where senior technical presence adds value.
  • Team Development & Capability Building: Play a key role in shaping the structure, capability, and culture of the Show Systems & Engineering team. Mentor senior engineers and designers, supporting both technical growth and leadership development. Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning as the team scales. Help develop internal processes, templates, documentation standards, and knowledge‑sharing practices that support long‑term consistency and quality.
  • Client, Project & Commercial Support: Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients, partners, and suppliers, building trust and long‑term relationships. Support producers and project managers with technical strategy, scope definition, resourcing, and risk management. Provide technical input into bids, proposals, and presentations to support business development and project acquisition. Support the resolution of technical issues that impact programme, cost, or delivery confidence.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure technical solutions and delivery approaches comply with relevant UK, EU, and international standards and regulations. Promote safe working practices and embed risk management, accessibility, sustainability, and maintainability into technical decision‑making.

You should have:

  • Extensive experience in senior technical roles within AV systems, show systems, live events, immersive experiences, or themed environments.
  • Strong system‑level understanding of AV, IT networking, media distribution, and control architectures.
  • Proven experience overseeing multidisciplinary technical teams and complex project delivery.
  • Experience contributing to or shaping technical standards, processes, or team capability in a growing organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to guide, challenge, and support technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including estimating, bid support, and delivery risk management.

It would be great if you have:

  • Experience within a themed entertainment consultancy or systems integration environment.
  • Experience helping to establish or mature a technical function or department.
  • Familiarity with international standards, codes, and regulatory frameworks.

Personal Attributes:

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping define structure where it does not yet exist.
  • Confident, pragmatic leader with strong technical credibility.
  • Willing to be hands‑on when required, while maintaining a clear focus on long‑term scalability and team development.
  • Calm and decisive under pressure.
  • Collaborative, supportive leadership style, comfortable sharing responsibility and decision‑making with a peer Technical Director.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to travel internationally as required.

What We Offer:

  • A rare opportunity to help shape the technical direction of a young, ambitious company.
  • Meaningful influence over how a newly formed team grows, operates, and succeeds.
  • A collaborative environment where creativity and engineering excellence are equally valued.
  • International project exposure and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
