Our client is recruiting for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Devon!
What you’ll be doing:
- Drive operational excellence by developing efficient manufacturing processes and leading cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to meet business and financial goals while ensuring compliance with UK, European regulations, and customer standards.
- Champion lean manufacturing practices to eliminate waste, improve quality, and exceed customer expectations.
- Lead root cause analyses, failure investigations, and continuous improvement events to enhance performance.
- Implement Six Sigma strategies to reduce variation and boost process reliability.
- Support new product development with design for manufacturing (DFM) and value engineering principles.
- Recommend and manage capital investments for emerging technologies.
- Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Develop and audit process documentation to address quality and production challenges.
- Ensure all functional KPIs are achieved through robust planning and execution.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong grasp of engineering design, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficiency in problem-solving tools (8D, root cause analysis, FMEA) and statistical techniques (SPC, DOE, Gage R&R).
- Familiarity with ProLaunch, CAD/CAM software, and industry-specific quality standards (ISO9001, AS9100).
- Expertise in manufacturing techniques like metal cutting, injection molding, welding, and tool design.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage supplier/customer interfaces.
- Experience in coaching and performance management.
