We are seeking a competent and proactive Chief Officer to join our team onboard Voyager. Reporting directly to the Master, the Chief Officer will play a central role in maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations. This position requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to safety, as well as active involvement in the vessel’s commercial and navigational duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all legal provisions in addition to those that are part of good seamanship are taken to ensure that the vessel can sail, manoeuvre and navigate safely.
- Assist the Captain on the bridge during manoeuvres and when transiting narrow fairways.
- Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the Hull, Deck, and Bridge areas.
- Ensure proper onboard implementation of the Garbage Management Plan and maintain the Garbage Log in accordance with MARPOL regulations.
- Manage the Bridge Team, providing leadership and direction to both officers and crew members within the department.
- Guarantee all legal provisions and best seamanship practices are in place to ensure the vessel is always ready to sail, manoeuvre, and navigate safely.
- Handle and manage any litigation or claims related to property damage or personal injury occurring within their area of responsibility (e.g., commercial operations, vehicle loading, external decks).
- Supervise and coordinate all onboard commercial operations, including bunkering activities.
- Responsible for loading vehicles with due regard to: Port of discharge, Height, Weight.
- Ensure vessel is properly secured to linkspan, if applicable.
