Responsibilities

  • Own the UK communications strategy and reputation with a clear point of view on brand and company conversations.
  • Lead corporate, business and brand communications across the UK portfolio, including launches, partnerships and cultural moments.
  • Develop and manage the UK communications team, prioritizing high-quality output across multiple brands.
  • Collaborate with global communications leaders on company-wide priorities and issues.
  • Advise senior UK and European leaders on media strategy, messaging, and opportunities.
  • Advise editorial leaders on maximizing external impact for their work.
  • Build communications around Condé Nast’s journalism and editorial leadership to shape broader conversations.
  • Monitor the UK media landscape, spotting opportunities and determining when to lead, join or refrain from a conversation.
  • Maintain relationships with influential journalists and editors across national and industry media.
  • Lead communications during sensitive and high-profile issues with counsel to senior leaders and cross-functional alignment.
  • Collaborate with editorial, commercial, marketing, people and other teams to translate business priorities into external narratives.
  • Produce sharp communications materials, including messaging, briefs, Q&As and statements.
  • Contribute to shaping Condé Nast’s global communicating approach by sharing UK insights.

Key requirements

  • Senior leader with extensive experience in media, publishing, entertainment or similar fields where brands, talent and culture intersect.
  • Strong problem-solver willing to test new approaches.
  • Deep knowledge of the UK media landscape and current journalist/editor relationships.
  • Ability to balance corporate reputation with brand storytelling.
  • Excellent news judgment and ability to identify compelling stories.
  • Understanding of changing media consumption and platforms, especially in the UK.
  • Proven track record advising senior executives and high-profile talent, including in sensitive situations.
  • Crisis and issues-management experience with calm, decisive judgment.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing communications teams.
  • Ability to work across a global organization with cross-market collaboration.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills to simplify complex ideas.
  • Approximately 12+ years of relevant communications experience.
