We’re looking for a Buying Assistant to support our Regional Buyer in sourcing and purchasing materials, plant, and PPE, ensuring high-quality supply and smooth operations across our region. This role is key to maintaining our supply chain standards, supporting sustainability goals, and helping the business run efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with purchasing materials, plant, and PPE through our requisition and procurement systems.
- Obtain quotes, maintain supplier accounts, and help build strong supplier relationships.
- Raise purchase orders and hire vehicles, ensuring all assets are logged, tracked, and maintained.
- Support management of office stores, equipment registers, and compliance paperwork (COSHH, SDS, calibration/maintenance).
- Work with contracts teams to optimise materials usage and reduce waste.
- Support environmental, social value, health & safety, and sustainability initiatives.
- Provide cover for regional admin and procurement colleagues as needed.
- Maintain professionalism and quality across all activities, supporting a safe and caring workplace.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to purchasing and administration.
- Experience or interest in supply chain, procurement, or materials management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with suppliers and internal teams.
- Commitment to health & safety, sustainability, and company values.
- Some previous experience in a Buyer or procurement role, ideally within the construction industry.
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, or equivalent professional qualifications (achieved, in progress, or interest in completing an apprenticeship).
- Alternatively, relevant experience in a similar procurement or administrative role.
