A fantastic opportunity is available for a Junior Interior Designer to join an exciting and progressive business for a sandwich placement year. We are a growing design, build and reactive maintenance company specialising in the hospitality and leisure sectors and we need someone to work as part of our award winning Design department at our head office in Doncaster.
The ideal candidate will be passionate, creative and enthusiastic about working on a variety of projects. We have a wide range of clients including some large and well-known names but we also have small independent customers so we can offer the chance to work on a broad spectrum of projects. We offer lots of options for training and development and as such this is a fabulous opportunity for a Junior Designer who wants to develop and evolve in their field. As we work nationally, and occasionally internationally, some travel and overnight stays will be required. The main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Attending project briefing meetings with Senior team members to assist with gaining relevant information to take the project forward, including completing the Concorde Standard briefing document.
- Meeting with external representatives to see new products and materials and feeding information back to the wider design team.
- Assisting with the preparation of concepts, mood boards, preliminary and final designs, and development of detailed design pack, including the procurement materials and products suitable for commercial use.
- Learn to produce drawings to Concorde standards including details using AutoCAD (or similar).
- Develop an understanding of detailed drawing and terminology, including statutory applications.
- Produce presentations and visuals using Indesign & Photoshop (or similar).
- Produce F,F & E schedules using Programma and manage procurement of products.
- Site visits to assist at meetings or carry out surveys as required by line manager.
- Assist in developing detailed designs and choosing materials and products with commercial suitability for projects.
- Work efficiently to tight deadlines and manage your own time effectively, reporting back to line manager.
- Gain experience in dealing with clients, contractors and other suppliers in a highly professional manner.
- You will be expected to complete regular updates on project portal, ensuring key project information is correct.
- Complete timesheets weekly & expenses on a monthly basis.
- Complete designers Risk assessments as required.
As part of our design team, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad scope of projects at all stages of their conception. There is great potential to learn and grow and you will also be able to participate in team away days and CPD events to help with your development and further your career. The main skills and expertise we require are:
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office suite, specifically Word & Excel.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail – verbal & written.
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD, and Photoshop, would be beneficial.
- In the process of working towards degree level, ideally with a design-based course ie. Interior Design.
- Full Drivers License would be beneficial.

This position benefits from 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays and also receives paid leave while the business is closed over the festive period.
We are seeking students who are currently studying at university who wish to complete a sandwich placement of approximately 1 year, between September 2026 and September 2027. Hours are 37.5 hours per week and our core hours are 8.30am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. The salary for this position is from £21,157 per annum and will be in line with national minimum wage. We offer many opportunities for training, growth and development and work closely with our teams to help them achieve their goals.
