We are looking for an experienced Hotel Receptionist to join the team at a stunning beachfront hotel on St Martin’s, Isles of Scilly. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys delivering excellent guest service, has a warm and professional manner, and takes pride in creating a memorable first impression.

As the first person many guests will meet when they arrive at the hotel, personal presentation is extremely important. You will be a key ambassador for the hotel and will play an important role in ensuring guests feel welcomed, valued and looked after from the moment they arrive. Whether you're looking for a seasonal adventure, a change of scenery or an opportunity to experience life somewhere truly special, this could be an excellent fit.

What You Need to Know

  • Previous experience working as a Hotel Receptionist is preferred
  • Experience using Rezlynx or Opera would be highly advantageous
  • You will have excellent personal presentation and a professional, welcoming manner
  • You will be confident communicating with guests face-to-face, by telephone and via email
  • You will need to make your own way to Penzance, Cornwall, at your own expense
  • You will be required to stay on the Isles of Scilly for the duration of the seasonal contract
  • The hotel closes for the winter at the end of October 2026. There is an opportunity to return for the 2027 season

Your Role

As a Hotel Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing a warm and professional welcome to guests and ensuring their stay gets off to the best possible start. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming and checking guests into the hotel
  • Checking guests out and processing payments
  • Dealing with guest enquiries and requests. Taking and managing reservations. Answering telephone calls and emails
  • Providing information about the hotel and the local area
  • Liaising with housekeeping, food & beverage and other hotel departments
  • Dealing with any guest issues or concerns in a professional manner
  • Maintaining accurate guest records and reception administration
  • Ensuring the reception area and your personal presentation are always maintained to a high standard
  • Delivering consistently high levels of customer service throughout the guest journey
