The Role

South Staffordshire Council is seeking an experienced Tree Surgeon to provide cover while a permanent recruitment process is underway. This is a hands-on operational role supporting community and environmental services across the local area. You’ll be responsible for carrying out professional arboricultural works safely, efficiently, and in line with council standards and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tree pruning, felling, crown reductions, and removals
  • Use of chainsaws, chippers, and specialist arboricultural equipment
  • Site safety management and risk assessments
  • Working in public spaces with a strong focus on health & safety
  • Supporting wider grounds and environmental maintenance teams as required

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Tree Surgeon / Arborist
  • Relevant arboricultural qualifications (e.g. NPTC / LANTRA)
  • Strong working knowledge of health & safety procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Right to Work in the UK

Compliance

  • No DBS required
  • No BPSS required
  • No DVLA check required
