HGV & Plant Mechanic 4 on / 4 off shift pattern
Hours: 4 days on / 4 days off
Average 37.6 hours per week (averaged over an 8-week rota)
Shifts: 07:30 – 18:45 (4 consecutive days)
Pay Rate: £15.85 – £20.80 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV & Motor Vehicle / Plant Mechanic to join a busy fleet workshop environment. The role focuses on the maintenance, inspection and repair of a mixed fleet of HGVs, motor vehicles and plant equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll be working both within a workshop setting and attending occasional roadside or site-based repairs, so flexibility and a practical mindset are essential.

Essential Requirements
- Apprentice-trained motor vehicle mechanic or City & Guilds 380/383 (Level 2), NVQ Level 3, or equivalent
- LGV Class C or C+E licence or willingness to work towards
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Strong health & safety awareness
- Reliable, flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities
- Professional attitude with good customer service skills
Working Conditions
- Physically demanding role including lifting, bending, kneeling and manual handling
- Workshop-based with regular outdoor and roadside work
- All-weather working required
