Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour

Monday to Friday – 10:00am to 2:00pm

20 hours per week

Temporary Position until 23 October 2026

We are recruiting for a School Catering Assistant to work within a busy primary school in Haywards Heath .

This is a daytime, Monday-to-Friday position supporting the school kitchen team with the preparation and service of meals to pupils and staff.

Duties

• Assisting with the preparation of school meals
• Serving meals to pupils and staff
• Setting up dining and service areas
• Supporting the kitchen team during lunch service
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipmentCleaning work surfaces, kitchen and dining areas
• Following food hygiene and allergen procedures
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Requirements

• Food Safety Level 2 certificate – essential
• Enhanced DBS preferred
• Previous catering, kitchen or school-meals experience preferred
• Good understanding of food hygiene standards
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable working within a school environment
• Able to work Monday to Friday for the duration of the assignment

Monday: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Tuesday: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Thursday: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Friday: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Total: 20 hours per week

Pay

£13.50 per hour

Temporary position until 23 October 2026.
