A local authority is seeking an experienced Tree Surgeon to support grounds and environmental maintenance services across South Staffordshire. This is a hands-on role working as part of a professional arboriculture team maintaining public spaces, highways and community areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out tree maintenance including pruning, felling and crown reduction
  • Undertake inspections and identify potential hazards or diseased trees
  • Operate chainsaws, chippers and associated arboriculture equipment safely
  • Assist with emergency tree works following storms or damage
  • Maintain safe working practices in line with health and safety regulations
  • Support general grounds and environmental maintenance activities
  • Complete work records and follow council compliance procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Tree Surgeon or Arborist
  • Relevant arboriculture or chainsaw qualifications (e.g. NPTC / LANTRA or equivalent)
  • Experience working within highways, parks or public sector environments desirable
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety and risk assessments
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Right to work in the UK
