Temporary Position until 23 October 2026
We are recruiting for a School Catering Assistant to work within a busy primary school in Burgess Hill .
This is a daytime, Monday-to-Friday role supporting the school kitchen team with the preparation and service of meals to pupils and staff.
Duties
- Assisting with the preparation of school meals
- Serving meals to pupils and staff
- Setting up dining and service areas
- Supporting the kitchen team during lunch service
- Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment
- Cleaning work surfaces, kitchen and dining areas
- Following food hygiene and allergen procedures
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
Requirements
- Food Safety Level 2 certificate – essential
- Enhanced DBS preferred
- Previous catering, kitchen or school-meals experience preferred
- Good understanding of food hygiene standards
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working within a school environment
- Able to work Monday to Friday for the duration of the assignment
Monday: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Tuesday: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Thursday: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Friday: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Total: 20 hours per week
Pay
£13.50 per hour
