The role of Mechanical Engineer can vary from week to week. Some weeks may involve practical site-based work, installation support, mechanical modifications, movement and positioning of equipment, and general project delivery. Other weeks may involve more detailed mechanical engineering work, problem-solving, fabrication, technical support, design input and work from concept through to installation.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in fast-paced client environments, including FMCG, food production, pharmaceutical, packaging, construction, manufacturing and wider industrial settings. Our Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone with strong practical mechanical skills, good technical understanding, and the flexibility to support a wide range of mechanical tasks across live client sites.

  • Provide practical mechanical engineering solutions from design through to installation
  • Maintain, repair and modify manufacturing equipment, production machinery and mechanical systems
  • Repair and overhaul mechanical items including motors, pumps, valves, bearings, shafts and rotating equipment
  • Carry out fitting, fabrication, bench work, assembly and mechanical modification tasks
  • Assemble and fit mechanical components and systems in line with technical drawings
  • Carry out mechanical snagging and improvement works within manufacturing and production line environments
  • Work with site utilities including compressed air, steam and water systems, within agreed limits of design and competence
  • Operate or support the use of fabrication and workshop equipment, including cutting, welding, drilling and machining tools
  • Support Project Managers, client teams and site personnel during project delivery
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with client site rules, company procedures, industry regulations and quality standards
  • Communicate professionally with clients, Project Managers and other site personnel

Previous experience in a similar hands-on mechanical role is required, along with a recognised apprenticeship or time-served background in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline. Strong understanding of machining processes, engineering material properties, engineering design principles, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Experience working with pumps, motors, rotating equipment and general mechanical systems in fast-paced industrial environments is necessary. Basic Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to write reports and interact with spreadsheets, are also required.

Benefits include 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after probation period, company pension, private health care, life assurance, regular training and development opportunities, gym membership to support your well-being, and social events.

If you are a practical, hands-on Mechanical Engineer who enjoys variety and problem-solving in live industrial environments, we’d like to hear from you. Apply now to join Concept Projects Group and help deliver high-quality mechanical engineering projects across the Wirral and wider North West.
