We are seeking a motivated and career-driven Procurement Assistant to join our shipyard team. This role plays a crucial part in procurement operations and supplier management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Track orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that arise.
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and arrange product samples.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying and sourcing new suppliers as needed.
- Monitor procurement budgets and support cost-saving initiatives.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery timelines to select the best supplier options.
- Assist in managing inventory levels to maintain adequate supply in the shipyard.
- Conduct regular stock checks and reconcile discrepancies.
- Process returns for faulty or unwanted items within required timeframes.
- Perform commercial project analysis, project costing, and variance reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly project reports.
- Process historical data and ensure complete record keeping.
- Create reports for management review.
Operational & Engineering Support
- Support the wider operational team in a fast-paced environment to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Work collaboratively across departments to drive process efficiency and digital system improvements.
Candidate Requirements
- At least one year of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Strong IT aptitude with excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across the business.
- Experience in the marine industry is advantageous but not essential.
- Working closely with an energetic team and contributing to key financial and operational decisions.
