Main Purpose of the Role

The Financial Ledger Officer will play an important role in supporting Concepts finance team and the wider organisation by providing an efficient, accurate financial ledger service. This includes ensuring the timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting compliance in line with organisational policies and financial regulations. The postholder will support the development and delivery of a high-performing finance function, helping to ensure excellent customer service for the business and external stakeholders. They will support the Management Accountant in maintaining efficient financial processes and delivering high standards across all aspects of our financial operations. The role will report to the Management Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

As Financial Ledger Officer, you will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day operations of the finance team. You will:

  • Process supplier and sales invoices
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Allocate payments and receipts
  • Investigate unmatched transactions to ensure records remain accurate and up to date
  • Analyse and reconcile financial information
  • Support payment runs
  • Assist with month end processes
  • Help maintain supplier and customer accounts using Microsoft Excel and the organisation's finance systems
  • Manage Direct Debits and update account information
  • Ensure financial data is correctly recorded
  • Manage finance inbox queries
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Support debtor and creditor account reconciliations
  • Process financial documentation
  • Reconcile petty cash and credit card transactions
  • Maintain accurate records and handle confidential information with discretion

Working in line with GDPR and organisational policies, you will prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines, and play an important role in helping the finance team deliver high quality financial services across the organisation.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • AAT Level 4 qualified, or equivalent technical knowledge
  • Experience working within a finance or accounts environment
  • Good understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience of finance systems, including ClearBooks and Sage Intacct
  • Experience within the housing association or social housing sector
