We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead a 2‐bed residential children’s home in Welwyn Garden City. You will be responsible for the safe, effective and compliant day‐to‐day running of the home, ensuring outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people. This is a senior leadership role where you will be registered with Ofsted and fully accountable for quality, safeguarding, staff performance, and regulatory compliance.
Duties
- Register as the Ofsted Children’s Home Manager
- Ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations (2015)
- Keep the home inspection-ready at all times
- Complete all required reports and statutory notifications
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
- Promote a safe, secure, and nurturing environment
- Handle safeguarding concerns and incidents appropriately
- Embed strong safeguarding practices across the team
- Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing team
- Conduct supervisions, appraisals, and performance reviews
- Manage rotas and maintain safe staffing levels
- Oversee care plans, risk assessments, and reviews
- Manage the day-to-day running of the home
- Oversee budgets and resources effectively
- Complete monthly audits and Regulation 45 reports

About You
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Proven experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or Acting Manager in a children’s residential setting
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and children’s residential legislation
- Experience of Ofsted inspections
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (business insurance required)
- Willingness to participate in an out‐of‐hours on‐call rota
- Enhanced DBS (required)
