Our client is a leading financial institution investing heavily in AI across its research organisation. They are looking for a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer to work closely with front-office research teams, understand how they work and identify where AI can genuinely improve their day-to-day workflows. This isn't a traditional AI engineering or pure platform role. You'll sit between research users and the AI engineering team, helping turn real business problems into production AI solutions. The team already has AI tools in production, including conversational AI and agent-based workflows, so you'll be joining an established team and helping expand what they're already building.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong understanding of financial markets and front-office workflows
  • Experience working closely with research, trading or quantitative teams
  • Hands-on experience building production AI / LLM applications
  • Experience with LLM workflows, AI agents, model deployment or research tooling
  • Ability to translate business problems into practical technical solutions
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders

Ideal background:

  • Experience within an investment bank, hedge fund, asset manager or similar financial environment
  • Background in quant research, strats, quant development or front-office engineering
  • Strong Python skills, ideally with some Java or C++ experience
  • Experience taking AI applications from prototype into production
  • Exposure to AWS or other cloud environments

What you'll be doing:

  • Working directly with analysts and research teams to identify useful AI use cases
  • Building AI tools that improve research workflows and decision-making
  • Developing conversational AI, research assistants and agent-based workflows
  • Building solutions around trade ideas, recommendations, research automation and data discovery
  • Working with AI platform and engineering teams to take ideas into production
  • Helping drive the adoption of AI across the research organisation

Beyond the technical skills:

  • Strong understanding of how technology can solve real front-office problems
  • Confident working directly with senior research and business stakeholders
  • Curious and proactive in identifying where AI can add value
  • Hands-on and pragmatic approach to engineering
  • Comfortable working between technical teams and business users
  • Able to take ownership from the initial idea through to production

Why this role?

This is a great opportunity to combine financial markets, hands-on engineering and AI. You’ll work directly with research teams, building AI solutions that solve real problems and are actually used in production. The team already has several AI applications live, so you’ll be joining an established function with plenty of room to grow, take ownership and potentially move into an Applied AI Lead role over time.
