Technical Product Owner

This role is a permanent position.

Clearance: DV preferred/SC accepted – must be willing/eligible for DV

Location: 4 days a month on site, consecutive days across the UK so you will be away from home 4 days a month. Expenses will be paid.

What We’re Looking For

1. 5–7 years’ experience in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role.
2. Proven ability to manage multiple products or delivery teams simultaneously.
3. Strong experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
4. Demonstrated ability to turn high-level business objectives into detailed product requirements.
5. Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
6. Comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level.
7. Technically literate – able to collaborate closely with engineering teams and understand technical constraints.
8. Analytical mindset with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
9. Experience with modern product and project management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Miro, Figma, etc.).
10. A background as a business analysis would be very desirable.
11. Defence experience would be desirable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own and manage multiple product backlogs across different software delivery streams.
2. Work closely with the CPO to translate strategic goals into actionable product plans.
3. Define and communicate product requirements through epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
4. Prioritise work based on business value, customer needs, and technical constraints.
5. Collaborate daily with cross-functional delivery teams, including engineering, design, and QA, to ensure smooth and timely execution.
6. Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and product increment reviews.
7. Maintain a strong pulse on user feedback, analytics, and market trends to inform product decisions.
8. Proactively identify risks, blockers, and dependencies across workstreams.
9. Ensure transparency of priorities, progress, and decisions with stakeholders at all levels.
10. Champion Agile best practices and contribute to continuous improvement in product delivery.
