Overview
Our client is looking for Financial Accounting Managers (Remote). Contract Length: 6 months
Responsibilities
- We’re looking for a Financial Accounting Manager with a technical background and a good understanding of central government finance and recent experience in FReM, CBG, MPM, etc., able to identify issues and resolve them.
- Explain financial implications to non-financial people, write accounting papers, analyse and interpret data in the GL, and improve/drive efficiencies in processes.
- Recent technical accounting experience (within the past 12 months).
- Producing financial statements in a large public sector organisation and working with auditors, managing audit requirements for the annual report and accounts.
- Managing a project to challenging timescales and leading geographically dispersed teams; providing leadership for wider finance colleagues.
- Preparing and reviewing accounting papers or providing detailed technical accounting advice based on knowledge of IFRS standards (IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 17, IAS 16, IAS 36, IAS 37, IAS 38).
- Working with Oracle/SOP and related applications; knowledge and understanding of government finance is desirable.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified and experienced financial professional (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent).
- Highly developed planning and organisational skills in a finance environment with experience of delivery against tight timescales.
- Able to think creatively and strategically to solve problems and manage risks.
- Adept at building strong stakeholder relationships and using your network to support delivery against objectives.
- Strong oral and written presentation skills with ability to explain complex financial issues to non-specialist audiences.
- An authentic and credible leader who can engage and motivate others and lead an inclusive culture.
- Ability to see change as a chance to drive efficiency and innovation; act as an agent for change to protect, drive and add value.
- Experience producing financial statements in a large public sector organisation and working with auditors.
- Experience leading or managing a project to time constraints.
- Knowledge of IFRS and ability to prepare/review accounting papers; understanding of IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 17, IAS 16, IAS 36, IAS 37, and IAS 38.
- Experience managing a geographically dispersed team or leading wider finance colleagues.
- Public Sector experience and ability to communicate messages to non-finance colleagues.

- AAT qualification or good grounding in bookkeeping; reconciliation and eliminations experience is preferred.
- Understand bookkeeping and be able to identify data discrepancies and reasons for eliminations.
- Ability to take initiative; experience reviewing consolidation templates; experience reviewing ALB accounts to ensure correctness.
- Public Sector experience and ability to communicate messages to non-finance colleagues.
