Senior Systems Engineer in Farnborough

This role is available for both contract Inside IR35 and perm.

For contract role the contract length is 3-6 months TBC.

Clearance: SC

Location: 3 days per week onsite in Farnborough

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

• 1. Sound understanding of systems engineering, its applicability, lifecycle processes, and systems considerations together with sound understanding of wider engineering and engineering management considerations
• 2. Able to determine suitable system engineering approaches and consider enterprise and political issues
• 3. Understanding of engineering management, including information management, considerations
• 4. Able to apply relevant systems engineering techniques
• 5. Able to determine required systems engineering outputs such as engineering and management plans, product descriptions, test result reports etc.
• 6. Anticipates possible problems and determines how they should be addressed
• 7. Possesses sound systems approach understanding wider picture, cause and effect, likely consequences etc.
• 8. Good understanding of system acquisition considerations
• 9. Good understanding of role fulfilled by stakeholder/user requirements, system requirements, system specifications, system design descriptions etc.
• 10. Good negotiation and presentation skills

Experience & Qualifications

• 1. Degree Level qualification or equivalent
• 2. CEng or equivalent
• 3. 7 - 10 years plus relevant experience in engineering/systems engineering

Specific Domain Knowledge

• 1. Knowledge of maritime domain
• 2. Knowledge of solution technology(ies) and applicable systems engineering (e.g. design, operation, support) considerations
• 3. Knowledge of systems engineering management and project management considerations

Purpose

Individuals possess generalist rather than specialist systems engineering skills which can extend from knowledge of a system (or domain of systems) to capability in various aspects of systems engineering. Employs standard techniques in the conduct of several systems engineering activities.
