This role is Inside IR35.
Clearance: CTC
Contract Length: 6 months
Location: Portchester - onsite for 5 days per week, potential to go to shipyard/boatyard with expenses paid for travel and overnight stays
MUST HAVE
- MARINE ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
- STCW certificate of competency STCW III/2 or STCW III/3.
- CHIEF ENGINEER OR EQUIVALENT, MARINE ENGINEER
- Knowledge of working in an engineering capacity, with or on maritime vessels (ideally different vessels)
- Strong experience and working knowledge of Class, Flag, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, the ISM Code and ISO requirements
The post holder should hold:
- Ships Superintendency experience
- ISM Audit experience
- Shipboard Safety Officer or ISOH Managing Safely course.
- STCW III/2 or STCW III/3.
What skills are needed?
- Maritime engineering skills obtained in either an operational or shore side role, Demonstrable previous experience of Maritime engineering, diagnosing and resolving issues across a range of vessels either within Border Security Command Maritime or the private sector.
- Flexible, adaptive and creative in solving problems.
- Effectively organise and plan
- Sound interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, analytical mindset with the confidence to make decisions, manage risk, and drive improvements in complex and fast paced settings
What experience is needed?
- Knowledge of working in an engineering capacity, with or on maritime vessels (ideally different vessels)
- Strong experience and working knowledge of Class, Flag, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, the ISM Code and ISO requirements
- Experience of undertaking project management
- Experience in procurement processes.
- Strong Management and Leadership experience and experience supporting and developing engineering teams
